170 East End Avenue - Fitness Room
Gut Renovation
Nestled in the heart of the Upper East Side, this architectural jewel, overlooking Carl Schurz Park and the East River, was designed by the renowned architect Peter Marino. Laden with a plethora of amenities synonymous with New York living, this residence boasts extravagance at every turn. Despite its grandeur, the passage of time had left its mark on the amenities since the buildings opening in 2006. With outdated equipment and tired aesthetics, the need for a rejuvenation was evident.
Initially proposed to overhaul multiple amenity spaces, budget constraints and resident feedback prioritized the Fitness Center for a much-needed makeover. The original space, though generous, lacked functionality with its cramped layout and obsolete equipment. Material selections were hard to maintain and were not as luxurious as some of the buildings newer neighbors.
Working with a contractor already familiar to both our firm and the building, we seized additional space from an underutilized sitting area adjacent to the Fitness Center allowing more space for additional desired equipment and the heavily needed stretching zone. With the help of MER, the luxury fitness brand, we were able to revamp the layout and upgrade all equipment to modernize the overall experience. Crisp and clean woven wallcovering paired with a much lighter and more durable rubber floor were installed with contrasting turf at the new open area for additional comfort.
